A Special Interest In The Intractable
After twenty years in
management and twenty years practicing organization development, I came to this:
- An interest in
those intractable, persistent situations where patterns of organizational behavior and performance had repeated
themselves (like the Ground Hog Day movie, some have said).
- A believe that, in the
manner of the Murray Gell-Mann quote above, the key to changing these situations is to bring into view the
strong interactions and the entanglements among the pieces and aspects of the organizational system under review
so that:
· all can see how it is the system keeps performing
the way it does
·
all
can see what they are doing to keep the system performing the way it does
· all can make the individual and collective changes needed to have
the system perform in the way needed.
